Safety is not only a priority but also a way of life, and when it comes to our children, we cannot afford to take any chances. We understand that sometimes it may be overwhelming, but we are here to help you make sure your child is secure and safe while traveling. Let us give you a list of tips that will help ensure your child’s safety in their car seat.

Tip 1: Always refer to the car seat manual and your vehicle’s manufacturer manual. It’s important to use the car seat correctly, while being mindful of your vehicle’s restrictions.

Tip 2: Ensure that the chest clip is at armpit level. This minor adjustment can make a massive difference in keeping your child safe.

Tip 3: Always check if the straps are snug and correctly placed. Keep in mind that the straps should pass the “pinch test” to ensure they are snug enough.

Tip 4: Do not use aftermarket products as they may pose a risk to your child’s safety and may also void the warranty of the car seat.

Tip 5: Safety doesn’t end in the car. When shopping, avoid placing car seats on the upper most part of a shopping cart (also known as a buggy depending on your region), as car seats are not meant to “click” into place; this can cause the car seat to become stuck with no way of removing it safely. It is best to place the car seat on the larger area of the shopping cart or better yet, babywear them.

Tip 6: Always avoid placing the car seat on high surfaces. A car seat tipping over is a potential risk that can lead to serious injuries.

Tip 7: Keeping your child warm and comfortable during the colder seasons is a priority, but strapping them in their car seat while wearing thick coats is not safe. Opt for a lighter option or place a blanket over your child after they have been properly strapped in.

Tip 8: Lastly, we encourage you to rear-face your child for as long as possible. It is safer to keep them facing the rear as long as their weight and height allow it.

We hope these eight tips make you feel motivated to practice secure and safe driving every day.
